(Myeong-dong)

Korea (Week2) - Monday 060709

Korea (Week1) - Saturday 040709
吃了韩国有名的Bulgogi(像蒸牛肉)
Buddy
就say byebye to buddy了
(Yin-sa-dong)

Korea (Week1) - Friday 030709
Jjajangmyeon

Korea (Week1) - Thursday 020709
Mi-yong-sil”

Korea (Week1) - Wednesday 010709
Afternoon, Korean Cooking Class...
Learnt to make 불고기 김치 비빔밥 (Fried Beef + Kimchi Bibimbap)
Yummy yummy~
After lessons, went to shop~
In front of YiHwa Women University; short-formed Yidae
Coz it's a girl school, the entire area in front of it became a shopping paradise.
Streets full of shops selling clothes, shoes, bags, etc...
And the prices are normally between 5,000 to 15,000 Won (RM15 - 45)
At the end, bought myself a shirt and pants=)
Another interesting scene in Korea is that:
Almost all girls put make-up
and hence,
cosmetic shops like TheFaceShop, SkinFood, NaturalRepublic etc are EVERYWAY
and according to friends (coz i never bought cosmetic before),
the prices are cheap...
Sometimes, the same brand is half the price in Singapore...
Wow~
And coz it is very competitive among the cosmetic shops,
they will give out samples, esp during evening and night.
Just take the basket from the salesgirl at front door,
go in and walk one round,
come out with the samples in the basket.
Sometimes, can get postcard or poster or files with celebrity on it,
such as 裴勇俊 and Kim Hyeon Joon from SS501 (韩版流星花园花样男子的花泽类)
=)
Evening after dinner, went for Ais Kacang,
called 밭빙수 Pat-Bingsu in korean
Very special, coz they add cereal, fruits and rice cake
Buy one free one, big bowl~
Phew~~

Korea (Week1) - Tuesday 300609
Lessons at Yonsei University Korean Language Institute start...
I was quite surprised to learn new grammar here,
'coz our Korean tutor in NUS said we won't be learning new stuffs,
mostly revise and practise only~
Anyway, learning new stuffs is exciting!
Didn't go out with friends after school
'coz was meeting my buddy in the afternoon, at dorm.
Nice girl, I feel that she is one with strong personalities.
Slim, Short Hair...named 박수빈 Park Su Bin=)
Since she is older than me, I call her Eonni (Big Sis)
And this is actually the Korean "culture" to greet elders and seniors
Either call them 선배 (Seon-Bae 前辈;学长、学姐) or more close can call:
1) Girls calling girls: 언니 Eonni/Unni
2) Girls calling guys: 오빠 Obba (should say it in a "sweet" way:p)
3) Guys calling girls: 누나 Noona
4) Guys calling guys: 형 Hyeong
Those much older persons can call them:
1) Uncle: 아저씨 Ajeossi
2) Aunty: 아주머니 Ajoomeoni
3) Anyone older, with a post or profession, eg teachers, doctors, bus and taxi drivers, security guards: 선생님 Seonsaengnim
Should never miss out all these when addressing or calling others
If not, it's seen as impolite and rude...

After school, went to Sinchon 新村 for lunch
Well...it's cold noodles, taste okay
but not used to cold stuff...
Oh, that ahjuma knows how to speak Mandarin
funny
Later, went 용산 Yongsan 龙山 to buy some electronic appliances
they have cheap stuffs like electronic dictionary, 2nd-hand handphone etc
bought myself a 2nd-hand handphone
cost me 30,000 Won (RM90)
Finally got a phone, but...
couldn't get a prepaid card yet...
and no charger too...
haiz still can't call back home...
Yongsan, really a nice place to shop for electronic
they call it e-Market (electronic-market)
entire area with several buildings full of electronic shops
and the prices are cheap too~
Night, back to Sinchon for dinner
ate McDonald 맥도날드 chicken burger
not cheap though...
ha...first day!!

Korea (Day1) - Sunday 280609
Woke up at 3am in the morning
Finally everything is packed into 2 luggages
Dad drive me to Changi Airport, with all mum, bro and my aunt
tired~not enough sleep coz was watching Boys Over Flower the night before
Reached Changi at 6am
Met 2 friends from NUS at 630am and check-in together
My luggages are 28kg in total!!
Went for breakfast with family before taking off
Ha
can't believe that I'm actually leaving for Korea on myself
...
Board the plane at 8am
taking Cathay Pacific
departed at 830am, no delay
arrived at Hong Kong around 12noon, no delay
have a quick lunch, chicken rice in the airport
departed again around 3+, flight delayed due to rain
finally...
Reached Incheon International Airport around 730pm (local time is 1hr ahead)
phew~ so tiring...
got a bit heaty, 37.4deg Celcius
luckily can pass thru the temperature checking
these days...A(H1N1) is terrible...
Reach Korea, and the adventure started
Firstly, got to buy mineral water to cool myself down
Ha, i used Korean to buy things. First time, and succeeded=)
Then we have to buy bus tickets to the hostel
called Mu-ak dormitory in Yonsei University
Beatrice was well-prepared, mission completed
and we got on to the bus safely.
On the bus, I realised sth wrong~
and Digi was not working !!!
meaning i couldn't call and sms back home to inform parents
no choice, borrow Beatrice's phone (Thanks a lot)
After 1hr travel, we reached Sinchon, the city where Yonsei is located in.
And now, big problem...
the taxi drivers REFUSED to take us to Mu-ak!!!
reason: Yonsei U is TOO NEAR~
Faint~
Finally 2 taxis agreed to take us
but, lost our way... -__________-'''
Scary...
At last reached Mu-ak around 9pm~
Phew~
Had my first meal with Beatrice and Yihui
Back room,
met my roommate!
...a Korean, named 수연권 Su Yeon Kwon...
Nice and sweet girl=)
Later took shower after one whole day of traveling
HA!!!
I was SHOCKED by the toilets
well...
there are 3 cubicles, well, with doors...
but they are SEMI-TRANSPARENT!!!
Culture-shock!!!
Later, had some chats with my roommates
then slept at 2am~
