KU Week 9 (25th April - 1st May) - ft Kyeonghee Uni & Nami Island & Jongmyo Festival

By the way
nothing happened on 24th April
as i stayed in hostel, mugging for the remaining midterms

* * *

25th April (Mon)
History midterm
just one word to describe this test (as well as this course):
"FUNNY~"
read the previous post for full story =.=

later,
Korean oral test
pair work
not perfectly done
but i did my best
not my fault that he screwed his part

One-day break for Neuro class
so
went to Kyeonghee University
for?
cherry blossom!!!

Like Korea University, there're lots of "castles" in Kyeonghee~
But, i think KU's are more like those German old castles
while Kyeonghee's are more like Italian churches~
Actually, there's not much cherry flowers left :(
Went into a small path, and WOWWW!!!
There's a "hidden" garden and lake behind the buildings~
UNFAIR!!!! WHY WE DON'T HAVE SUCH SCENERY IN KU; NO SUCH THING IN NUS AS WELL!!!!
Thought it's a church, but nope, it's just a building for concert halls and theatres~
No cherry flowers, but i found this, should be Plum Flower (i think), which bloom slightly later than cherry flowers...
and oh, see the "stairs"? It's a Colosseum-like basketball court~
Korean national flower - Hibiscus syriacus (aka Mugunghwa 無窮花)
Same genus as Malaysian's Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (aka 大红花)

26th April (Tue)
Midterm for "Intro to Neuroehics"
then
nothing special anymore
as usual
post-exam syndrome
felt so "blank" after finishing all exams
didnt want to touch any books
didnt want to watch any dramas
didnt want to update my blog
just blank~

* * *

27th April (Wed)
i'm liking Kuk'ak more and more
but feel quite awkard and uncomfortable
to have those "kids" (all at least 2 years younger than me) to treat and pay for dinners
hmm
why don't the koreans just share the cost
why must "seniors" (sometimes based on age, but mostly based on Year in uni) pay every time

28th April (Thu)
Still blanking~~

29th April (Fri)
Finally
something interesting~
went to Nami Island with rommie~~~~

It's my second visit to Nami island
but the experience was completely different
coz last time i went there during winter with family, following tour group
this time, we 2 girls went there during spring, all by ourselves ^^

First stop, took bus from East Seoul Bus Terminal
HEY!! My first time buying bus tix and take express bus w/o family~~~
As we traveled northward, the temperature got cooler and interestingly, the scenery outside changed gradually as well~
While the cherry flowers in Seoul were fading, they're still blooming in the north!!!
Reached Gapyeong Terminal after ~1hr ride; then took taxi to the ferry port
AND WE ARRIVED~~~
Cherry Cherry~~~ so lucky that the cherry flowers were still there T.T
What's Nami Island famous of? Well....it's the K-drama "Winter Sonata"~~~

Pretty Chalet~

This island was so different during spring compared to winter...getting greenie and colourful~~
But oppsss...this row of trees still "Botak" :PP

Extra: Nami Island during winter

No greens at all, but snow ^^
Credits: my bro :PP

26th April (Sat)
It rained a lot this week
=
Staying indoor
:'(

27th April (Sun)
Went for 종묘대제 (Jongmyo Daeje 宗廟大祭)
which is translated to English as "the Grand Ancestral Rite"
I personally see this trip as a failure
'cause failed to see the important parts of the rite/festival,
especially the procession (something like a parade)
no interesting photos
so pls visit the Jongmyo official site for more info: click here

So why did we miss the procession?
'cause we can't really see what's going on inside the temple during the rite
'cause we got bored while standing under the hot sun
'cause we went to insadong while waiting for the procession
but ended up missing it >.<

Anyway
let's talk about Insadong a little bit more
it's famous among tourist for souvenirs, arts galleries and tea shops
one extra point that makes Insadong special
is that all the shop names, are all written in Korean characters,
no English
it's interesting when it comes to those cosmetics shops
Skinfood = 스킨푸드
Nature Republic = 네이처리퍼블릭
Innisfree = 이니스프리
Etude House = 에뛰드 하우스
etc etc etc...

Starbucks Coffee
아름다운차박물관 Tea Museum at Insadong

Small part of the procession passing through Insadong
End of procession, where they're going back to Kyeongbok Palace :(
